Secrets, the past, the present

We all have things that haunt us
They are our secrets
They are our past
I believe that it is our past that makes us who we are today
We only have our present
If the things that lay behind us stop us from being
Then the past is our thief
Taking from us the love we share
Truly though in the end
If it is a factor, the past, and it scares us
We cannot fully understand the present
Until we address the past with full knowledge
And not an assumption of its outcome

Sometimes people may think we are mysterious. Are we ever ready to let go of our past? Should we ever let it go? Should we ever be so open as to let all the tears and thunders of the past ( and the recent past) be absorbed by another human being? Sometimes events of our past, and of our life in general are jewels to be kept hidden, protected, so that only we can use it; whenever we need to re-learn a lesson, whenever we need to look back and thank for everything that happened, everything that made us who we are.
